STREET ART as VOX POUL

Since the 1970s, graffiti and street art have echoed the raw, unfiltered voice of "everyday people". This means of expression was fuelled by protest, poetry and passion. It spoke on behalf of the disenfranchised and visionaries who dared challenge the status quo.

Fast forward to 2025 and what was once considered vandalism has become a global cultural phenomenon. Names like Banksy, Shepard, D*Face, Retna, Haring and Basquiat have become modern day icons. Their work transcends their respective street origins and occupies space in prestigious, A-list galleries while commanding stratospheric valuations.

For over two decades, I've dedicated myself to photographically capturing the essence of graffiti and street art. I've done so not simply as a spectator but as a documentarian of its power, scale, and boundless creativity.

This chapter of the exhibit shines a light on this exciting contemporary art form. These works are more than paint applied to walls, they're labours of love, public conversations and mirrors of the “Cultural Gestalt.”
